•1990-93 Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Pavia
•1994-95 Post-doc position at the Grenoble High Magnetic Field Lab.
•1995-2001 Assistant Professor of Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Pavia
•since May 2001 Associate Professor of Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Pavia
•Has given university courses on Structure of Matter; Solid State Physics; Phase Transitions, Magnetism and Superconductivity,Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Modern Physics Lectures for High School Teachers
•Supervisor of about 30 collaborators among post-docs, Ph.D. and diploma students.
•Invited speaker at about 30 international conferences or schools.
•Member of the Selection Panel for µSR experiments at ISIS-RAL (UK).
•Member of the scientific, publication and organizing committee of several international conferences and schools
•Referee for several international journals since 1995
•Referee for national research projects as well as for CCLRC (UK), European Science Foundation, USA-Israel Binational Science Foundation and Israel Science Foundation projects.
•Coordinator of project CNRAgenzia2000 on High Pressure and low-temperature NMR
•Coordinator of INFM research line on magnetism and superconductivity in Pavia.
•Member of the steering committee for the ESF Programme on Highly Frustrated Magnetism
•Member of the Groupment Ampere (European Magnetic Resonance Society) Committee
•National Coordinator of project PRIN2004 on Strongly correlated electron systems with competing interactions
•Coordinator of a Fondazione CARIPLO 2005 and of a CARIPLO2008 research projects
•Coordinator of Pavia CNISM (Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Scienze Fisiche della Materia) research unit since 2005.
•Member of the committee for the evaluation of french laboratories for the AERES (Agence d'évaluation de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur).
•Coordinator of a collaboration between Bracco Imaging S.p.A. and the Dipartimento di Fisica A.Volta

He is author of more than 115 publications on international peer reviewed journals with an h-index of 21 (since 1990) and coauthor of two books. His research activity has focused on the experimental study of the physical properties of matter by combining magnetic resonance techniques, mainly NMR and µSR, with techniques of complementary character as magnetization and specific heat measurements.
